Re: Smoking on Right Side

I'm skeptical. If right meant "driver's side" then a leaking rack would be a possibility, but then there's nothing for any leaking fluid to burn on there. The exhaust stuff is on the other side, which I would call the left (looking from the front bumper). It would be difficult for hydraulic fluid to get over there. I'd expect engine oil or coolant on that side, most likely the former. Check to see if you aren't getting a leak off the valve cover ...

Now if we were talking about a V8Q hydraulic fluid leaking onto the exhaust and smoking is quite plausible.

I'm getting smoke with burning oily smell from the right lower part of motor
compartment, I've been told by mechanic that he has to replace banjo bolt on
steering rack for the high pressure hose coming from pump because there is a
leak of hydraulic oil, he located leak while I was turning back and forth
from extreme right and then 40 degrees left. I wonder if there is a
connection between smoke with burning oily smell on ride side and leak. I
think it is a 19mm banjo bolt fro high pressure hose.
