Max, your mechanic shouldn't have let you drive away if you really needed
to replace the rack's banjo bolt. Crush washers maybe but banjo bolts are
usually good or broken. Right, Starboard or passenger, I wouldn't think the
fitting htere would cause your exhaust smoke smell, but your valve-cover or
oil filter housing certainly could.
Hydraulic oil I would describe as more bitter a smell if that helps..
