Agree with Huw, it may be a bit of an inconvenient reach at times, but this will also minimize cables draped from the dash to the console and seats. 

Another possibility:  I wired in a triple "power point" adapter in the V8Qs which is relayed off the factory relay that allows the windows to operate after the key is shut off.  The box with the plugs nestles nicely between the driver's seat and console.  The power cable slips under the side of the console.  Now that I'm thinking of it ISTR using a single power point socket under the console, with the triple adapter plugging into that.  I took pictures which were to be part of a write up ...that was never finalized.  If there is some interest I can finish it up and post somewhere.

So... plug the USB into the rear lighter and use the child safety switch to turn it on and off?
