I had to replace the fuel pump. It was locked up.
I bought a new Bosch pump (Bernie, what else could I do?)

Thinking back to when the car stopped running on the freeway I remember the volt meter reading way low. I turned the key off and back on, let out the clutch so the motor was spinning and the volts went right back up. (Fuel pump not activated).
Which I interpret as being a locked up pump and near a short circuit.

New pump in and up and running.
