Thanks Scott.
I have a second housing that is drilled on the back cover (sent free of
charge by GoPro after Ive send them a picture of my 2 little girls on a
Mini Cooper toy car with the GoPro mounted on the hood).
They say thats the best way to get quality sound without jeopardize the
camera integrity.
Id like to see the wheels in action a bit from a quarter panel mount, but
Im afraid of the snowbanks
Maybe a lanyard/tether would keep the camera
with the car in case of an involuntary dismount ?
Do you apply some water repellent on the lens to get the snow off by itself
?

I've tried various locations for mounting, and it really depends on what you
are looking to do. The quarter panel can give a cool perspective of turns
and gives the appearance of being fast. On the front of the hood, it's like
being at the front of the roller coaster, but really doesn't give much
perspective. I ended up putting the camera at the front of the roof just
above the windshield, dead center above the rear view mirror. I run with
the open back, so that you can hear the engine sounds as well. I use the
720 60fps setting for best video (IMO), and try to keep other cars in the
movie to give perspective to speed and turns. After 1 lap solo, no matter
how fast you are, the attention span of your audience gets lost quickly.
Put other cars in the mix, spectators will hang longer.

Thanks Scott,
Where do you install your GoPro for best effect ? I have a front mount in
the center of the grille, one inside the top of the winshield, but I'd like
a bit more "action" with the car in the picture. Event at Mecaglisse is this
Sunday.

Plenty of U-tube action is already up under the USAC banner on that site,
more will follow once I get my HD GoPro downloaded and edited.
