Coolant Small Heater Hose

It should be replaced occasionally, yes, simply because it won't last 
forever.

I blew one out once, but it was a special circumstance - the cat 
broke/clogged on my coupe, leading to very labored breathing and lowered 
power and a mild overheat.  Parked car and while it was "off" the hose 
let go.  I suppose another 10-20k miles and it might have just gone on 
its own.
