Audi 4000/CGT/UrQ window regulator repair

Fellow Audifans,

I'm working on an 84 4000Q and have found another broken plastic piece for
the window regulator. Any of you that have taken one apart probably know the
piece that I'm talking about. It's about 2" in length, about 3/8" around at
one area by about 1/2" and then it necks down to about 1/4" by 1.5". Every
singel window regulator I've ever taken apart in a 4000/UrQ/CGT has had at
least one of these broken. The smaller part works it's way up into the motor
area. This also allows the spring area to go crooked, and can cause the
cable to bind or rub on an area it's not supposed to.

Someone has told me there is some brass plumbing fitting that can be
subsituted for that piece. So, does anyone know the exact part that can be
substituted? Also, if not, I have a local guy (here in Houston) that usually
does huge orders (over 5000 pieces each) that will make me 100 out of brass
for about $12 each. I only have 12 responses from others interested so far,
so I can't justify them yet. Also, I need four for the car I'm working on,
and probably four for mine. So, that's 20 of them. Anyone else interested?

One way or another, I don't want to put this one back together with the
plastic ones, even through I have two "good" ones. The original broke, I
can't imagine another not doing the same :(

Also, on a side note this same part may also fit Type 89's and Type 44's.

Thanks,
Tony
