Coolant temperature light

I had a pinhole leak in a small diameter line that went to the bottom
fitting on the overflow reservoir on the V8 ... no signs there at first.  I
finally got a clue when the coolant started pissing on the hot EM and steam
was coming up from under the hood at a light.  

IMO one strong clue is whether or not the system holds pressure ...

Ok, but does the low coolant signify a leak?  No visible signs.
