Based on my experience with a '94 100S Avant, it's probably one of th
e more reliable of Audis. There isn't much power to kill the automatic,
and the HVAC has knobs instead of electronics. I think a Cabriolet
would make a nice spare Audi.
What to watch for? If the engine passes a compression check, and
the transmission shifts smoothly, not much. The ignition switch
may die on you, and I hear the motorized power top can loose its
motorized power. You will probably have electrical issues, just
from bad connections due to age and corrosion.
The '94 won't have OBD-II diagnostics (which may be a plus if
you're trying to get a car through state inspection). But you
should still be able to read codes.
