Ironically - I recently did the almost opposite. I used some genuine Audi
alternator brushes I bought many years ago, but never used,  to fix my cheap
Harbor Freight electric impact wrench. Almost no HW stores carry brushes
anymore....

In any case, if they are still available, the Bosch/Audi part
makes replacement much easier because they have a solid wire soldered to the
end of the flex wire. That solid wire makes pulling the lead through the
frame of the VR easy.

Try a search on "Bosch Alternator Brush Set: in ebay.....
