Blown heater Core '90 80 non-Q

I used a plastic barbed adapter thing on my 90Q all last summer.  That 
and a couple of hose clamps.  Seems to be about 3/4".  Straight worked 
fine without kinking the hoses.

The coolant always flows on these cars, temp is adjusted with air flaps.

You never need to defog the windshield?
