Perhaps I should explain in more detail. Delivery areas from warehouses depend on market, but from what I've seen you get 4 deliveries per day within 25 mile radius, 2 deliveries per day within 50 mile radius. Plus they have relay drivers that go between other region warehouses a couple times per day.
In my case that comes out to:
In stock in Charlotte:
Order by 6am, delivery at 8am (we open at 9am though)
Order by 10, get it by 12pm.
Order by 1, get it by 3
Order by 4, get it by 6.
In stock in Raleigh or Columbia (150 miles NE or S respectively):
Order by 6pm get it next day at 8am (they know to come to me last so they are usually on my doorstep at 9am sharp)
Order by 12pm get it on the 3pm delivery
In stock anywhere else on the easy coast I can order by 4:30 and have it overnight, or can have overnight from a west coast warehouse when ordered by 7:30pm. All free.
Like I said too, in my case in particular I can walk to the Charlotte warehouse in about 5 minutes and pick up anything I need. Anybody else can easily drive there if its an emergency and they need parts right away.

Of course, even those places are now "affiliated" with various larger operations out of necessity (Federated, NAPA, Auto Value, etc.).
