Squeaking steering

Patient is an A4 Avant quattro with manual gearbox and 145,XXX on the clock.

Recently during parking lot speeds the steering "squeaks" like a boat
rubbing against a bumper at a dock.  Fluid is up, pump was replaced last
year.  No slop, no play at high and low speeds, very responsive like a Audi
should be.

I am runnning my snows and 15" steelies, so its not tire rub either.  Is
this the dreaded multi-link replacement?
