Squeaking steering

The best way to track it down is to have someone turn lock to lock (engine running) while VERY CAREFULLY holding your hand on the respective suspension parts.
I almost guarantee you will feel one (or more) vibrating thus generating the noise. Sometimes these can be quieted by using an oil injector (via needle) into the respective boot to eliminate the dry joint.
If that doesn't work - time to remove and replace.

Subject: Squeaking steering

Patient is an A4 Avant quattro with manual gearbox and 145,XXX on the clock.
Recently during parking lot speeds the steering "squeaks" like a boat
ubbing against a bumper at a dock. Fluid is up, pump was replaced last
ear. No slop, no play at high and low speeds, very responsive like a Audi
hould be.
I am runnning my snows and 15" steelies, so its not tire rub either. Is
his the dreaded multi-link replacement?
Cheers!
