Adding Freon to 1995 UrS6

I am not particularly familiar with Audi systems, but if the refrigerant is 
 so low that it blows warm air, shouldn't there be a low-pressure switch to 
shut  off the compressor?

I can not be sure of the accuracy of the gauge, but it did give me  
confidence. Basically, there is a "V" on the gauge, you set the left arm of  the 
"V" on the ambient temperature then bring the pressure up to where  marked.
