Looking for a New Ride

I have a 2011 Sportwagon TDI and several friends with MKIV Golfs (which is what got me to throw my hat into the TDI ring). The Jetta averages 36/city and 42 highway, my Golf friends regularly average 50+mpg on the Golf platform. 

I have an old MB190E that cost next to nothing to own and average 23MPG overall in it -as long as it continues to perform without breaking the bank I'm keeping the car that gets me exactly where a new (different) gas engine would without the car payment. 

If I could find a MKIV for low cost, just to have the additional fuel savings I might be able to justify the call to jump ship from the current DD.
