The EPA actually recently declared the vapour-recovery fill nozzles at
gas stations obsolete, as the car's vapour-recovery system now does far
more than the special nozzles can, and removing those nozzles will save
the average station $3000 a year!
I jumped into that business when Stage 2 vapor recovery was mandated
(early 90's). We had to charge many stations $150,000 to install the vapor
recovery system, and that was far from a maximum. They must be delighted that
they can remove the nozzles now.
