a vag that uses oil? weird. ;-)

+1 on the oil consumption test. buddy is seeing lots of usage on brand
new b8 s4. it *just* passed the consumption test. i think he's using
almost a qt every thousand. at 10$ a qt that's expensive!

steve - curious what your break in procedure was on the gti.? fwiw/ime
34k miles is still kinda 'break in'.. that's like 3-4 oil changes from
new.

every one ive owned has used to a more or less alarming extent. n/a's,
turbo's, i-4's, i-5's, have all used. my 2.0t in the b7 a4 was one if
if not the worst. about a quart every 1500 IIRC [totally stock, i
owned it form 20-70k]
