'95 a6q - heat only on my feat!

The HVAC system on the C4 chassis cars uses little servo motor controlled flaps and the motors like to die. I forget offhand how to activate diagnostics (I haven't had a C4 car for almost 3 years now) but that can be found with some searching. On our '95 a6q avant (which is one of the very best vehicles I have ever owned) we did all the flap motors at once. The temperature blend flap is the only easy one. The others are buried inside the HVAC box which must be removed and disassembled for access. Prepare for little plastic bits that love to break as well, so be patient and take your time if DIY. Good time to think about things like the heater core and maybe the blower fan if the miles are getting high. (I had to do the job twice, once for flaps, and a few years later for the heater core.)

HTH and good luck!
