Yes and no.  I've tried awfully hard to make the point that we must have to look at the environment oil will be used in, and compare it to its specs.

The corollary pf this is: " there are not good and bad oils, only different oils for different applications".

You can change your oil every 1000 miles, but if it will go into a 400 deg environment, and has a 275 deg flash point, its gonna fail.

Of course its not that simple, oil loses grade with time sue to shear and dilution, etc - but the principle remains.

For daily drivers - yes. For 2.0 turbos ( the subject of this thread after all) - i don't completely agree, although the idea is still useful.
