Allroad Level Warning

I can't tell you anything authoritative, but I can tell you some of my
experience.

My first thought is Do you have VAG-com or vcsd-lite? The controller should
provide error codes indicating what the problem is.

Is the car slowly sinking? I recently had to replace my computer and each
night it would sink a little lower and not adjust back up. It wasn't even
trying to level. Vcsd-lite gave me an error code that I was able to find
many links online to people saying the computer was bad.

When you turn it off and back on do the level lights come on for a while?
When I go to the highest level my load lights sometimes all go out and I
have to restart and hurry and set the level before it goes out again. But
the level warning light is not on during that time.

My understanding is that there are effectively 4 parts to the system, the
air springs, the computer, the compressor and the ride level sensors. If
you have replaced the computer and the card isn't sinking quickly the level
sensors seem like the likely culprit.

I am guessing that is the problem with my system when I go to the top level
and the lights all go out.

One more thought, did you set the ride level after replacing the computer?

Subject: Allroad Level Warning

My 2004 Allroad developed a level warning light while I was towing a
trailer between Michigan and Colorado. Car was sitting a bit high,
especially in the rear, there were no up and down lights on the
dashboard switches but everything else worked, so I completed the 700
miles left to go. When I got to 10,000 feet of elevation and
disconnected the trailer, car was sitting a bit higher than while in
Nebraska, where the warning appeared.

I have found the big 40-amp fuse and the relay buried ridiculously deep
in the driver footwell to test all right. I have replaced the expensive
level control "computer" and the situation remains the same.

Any suggestions other than coil overs?
