Works when wants to A6

Hello everyone,

The patient is a 2001 A6 2.8 and the problem is that there isn't any fuel pumping from tank to injectors. I have 2 other A6's in the family so I swapped fuel pumps and fuel pump relays and checked fuse 28 already. The car still starts when it wants to.

I've narrowed the problem down.. I think

1. I think its a ground wire. Can I just splice a wire to the ground wire that is on the fuel pump connector? Should this be done another way?

2. Vagcom says voltage too low on TCM sometimes and throws into safe mode. Is there a specific or different ground I should be cleaning and tightening. Can I just add one somewhere?
