I will write it yet again.

It not as simple as the statement below.  High compression ration and advanced timing is only an issue when at WOT. if you are not at WOT there is less air and fuel, and therefore it is compressed less and has less heat rise.  PV=NRT, and P will be lower, so T will be lower.  With T lower, there will be no pre-ignition and no need to back off timing.

So it ONLY benefits mileage if you are at WOT, whcih is a tiny % of time
