1. It seems you have no choice?
2. Removing 0.5 mm inside a circle isn't that hard, I certainly wouldn't
call the result "oval". Just work slowly and carefully.
I filed a hub I messed up with a big hammer back to "roundness", it just
took time and patience and lots of measuring as I worked.
