Audi A8 starter replacement now a moot issue

Another advantage to those shock tubes is that the front end can nasally be
unbolted from them, giving you decently easy access to the front of the
engine (where the timing belt, water pump, etc reside). At least that's
true on the D2 A8. I'm not fortunate enough to have owned one newer than
that.
