Zurich vehicle service contract?

I pretty much agree with the others... However, I purchased a 2009 MINI Cooper for my daughter this past summer, with 70k miles.
I brought it to the dealer about a month ago for a 'once-over' and oil change (it was purchased from a Ford dealer). They called and
advised that it needed brakes - pads and rotors. When I asked how much, they said 'No charge, it's covered under the extended
maintenance plan' - which I didn't know I had..... So I figured the deal I got, which was already good, became about $1,000 better.
Oil/filter changes are covered, as are wiper blades and other misc items. Of course, I didn't have the initial outlay of the plan... Just
a beneficiary.... ;-)
Assuming you'd need brakes prior to 100k miles (and that they'd be covered), there's $1,000 right there. Throw in oil/filter changes (if
covered) at, say, $75 each, every 10k miles (for math simplicity), and now you're up to $1,750. Of course, you have to get back to the
dealer for the services which, in the case of my daughter's MINI, is a little out of the way. But YMMV.

Subject: Zurich vehicle service contract?
Time to gain some knowledge from you all again!
My dad just bought a 2013 VW Passat 3.6SEL and they are trying to get him to purchase the extended service contract. Do any of you have experience with these? Are they worth the $2500 for 84 months and 100,000 miles? Do they try to fight you every time you want to use it and blame a non covered issued for causing the covered issue? Thanks!
