You need to bring it to your mechanic.  If you are smelling gas you 
might have a fuel leak, which can be dangerous.

Exhaust pipes are always coated with black on the inside.

The water on the ground is simply the product of burning hydrocarbons - 
water plus CO2.

As I said in another post, professionals are usually pretty good at 
figuring out where "strange smells" are coming from.
