Alternator Belt Adjustment on Audi 100 1990

Thanks for all your answers.
Good to get all those ins and outs of something that should be as simple as 
tightening the belt.
And I was able to track down a replacement bolt and nut from an audi part 
supplier for a couple dollars.
For once I don't feel like a complete idiot posing the question.

So I'm going to risk my luck and post the upcoming question about the ABS 
and the "disable-ABS" switch :-)

Ten-fifteen bucks at an audi dealer for a new toothed nut/bolt and
toothed mounting arm (ok, ten years ago?).

These alternators are notorious for being difficult to "crowbar" to
tension the belt.
