I have a mechanic friend that worked at a German specialty shop. At the time he had a really nice black wale tail 911. After he upgraded the exhaust he couldn't get it to run. So over the next week he proceeded to tear down the engine and rebuild it. Still wouldn't run, then he put gas in it.
