piech has been fired from vw.  which marks the end of a 40 year era.
although jorg bensinger did the work, it was under piech¹s ³watch² that
quattro was born, back in the late 70¹s.  piech is now almost 80 and if his
crankiness in any way approximates mine as i age, it is no surprise that he
had a falling out with winterkorn, the ceo.  unusually for piech this time
he lost.  

vw is the way it is because of him, and his vision and his instincts as an
engineer.  

as the ³family² still owns 51% of the shares I imagine there will be some
interesting porsche family board meetings as ferdi and ursula try to pull
the stringsŠ.
