2006 Audi A6 won't start

Check for a corroded connection at the battery. It may get be able to pass enough current to do accessories but not the big things. Try turning on the high beam headlights and see if they are nice and bright.
The immobilizer on that car will allow it to crank, but not start so it's unlikely to be that. Could be a classic Audi ignition switch failure.
There is definitely a button, though I can't recall if it's under the shifter gate or the ashtray. That said I find it very odd it won't even operate that since that's on one of the secondary circuits in the ignition switch. Try pulling it out of park with a charger or jumper cables on just for good measure.
