The bushings are harder to remove than push in. I drilled the rubber out and cut a groove into the outer race so that I could squeeze the race just enough so it would come out. Pushing them in with a large bench vise is a piece of cake. Just freeze the bushings overnight so they contract and they'll go right in. That's not even necessary if you have a large enough vise.

I have a '91 coupe quattro. I've been driving around with worn control arm bushings for about a 1000 miles. A new control arm is pricing at about $500 per side.

What're the thoughts on just replacing the bushings? How difficult are they to press on to the control arm?

Does anyone have a source for a better price on control arms for this car?

Thank you.
