VHT engine enamel is also a good choice.  If you use a high temp or ceramic
paint, bake it in the oven as per directions on the can before
use/handling.  holds up much better to chips.   If you really, really take
your time, and do the prime/paint/clear method, wetsand the primer and
color in between coats, and do 2-3 primer and 3-5 color coats using that
method.   Brilliant depth to it, and you can wetsand the clear at 2000-3000
and buff to finish it out.

Or, you know, spray and go.  that too.
