CV joints basics, NAC, but VAG

Never seen play on splines on any CV I've had apart.  Would expect this is
not good given the loading/unloading when on/off throttle I would imagine
it will make some noise?  If CV goes together and you can't feel any play
it should be good.  No pitting on the wear surfaces I trust?  I've always
rebuild my own, folk swear by raxles IIRC?  Pretty easy to put a new set of
boots on IMHO.
