That's a very good question.
The simplest thing is to disconnect the battery - that will certainly
slow down any would-be thieves - however, a modern car will react in
many, perhaps unpredictable, ways to such treatment (which is why it is
a good question...).
Here's a relatively electronically safe one - remove a wheel and tire
and leave it on a jack stand. The most it will confuse is the TPMS.
You could also run a heavy chain or cable through a subframe and around
a tree.
