You might try pulling the reservoir and cleaning it out with a simple hose sprayer or a mild solution of Dawn and water. The float is probably just gummed up.

My low coolant warning comes on although the reservoir is full. The car is not overheating. When I pull the sensor connector, the warning disappears. 

Is there a remedy for the coolant sensor malfunction besides replacing the reservoir?
