[urq] "Team Door handle"

Greetings! I guess I'm probably the only reader here from Lithuania :)
I also don't remember when I've joined, but the my oldest post was in
2006.

My father was the one who introduced me to Audis. He was a real
member of "team door handle", as he usually kept a good stock of
chinese knock-offs in the closet. He also found out, that with a
grinder and a good eye you could convert a soviet "Lada Samara" handle
into something compatible with his '85 100 2.2 non-turbo.
Unfortunately, the quality of russian parts wasn't any better than
chinese.

I inherited his car, but drove it only for about a year, until
it started leaking everything, except probably the brake fluid. Then I
had a chance to visit US for summer work, and guess what I've bought
when I came back with pockets full of cash. That '90 100 2.3 Avant has
served me well for 13 years, until AT has started slipping, and local
mechanics asked way too much just for taking the transmission out of
the car. Sold it 3 years ago, but I start missing it almost everyday,
whenever I hit a pothole with my current japanese "wooden suspension"
creature.

I still enjoy reading this list very much, because it still has this
old school honesty and concise information. I have nothing against the
current generation, they are able to do some impressive things too,
but it's very soothing to read something without 3000px-wide image
attachments and holy wars on every second thread.
