[s-cars] re: MAF housings

John-
Thanks. I know this, and it would require new software, but how is that
any
different from Mike P.'s efforts?

I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, just wondering if you have BTDT
and can share some insight into what it actually takes to remap the MAF
outputs.

Aren't there fluid dynamics modeling programs that can simulate some of
this
data so the learning curve isn't so steep? After all, we're talking
about
a smooth, round housing made of aluminum. Or does that take some massive
processing
power (like taking 2 yrs. on a P4)?

Taka, et al,

Yeah, you can put an MAF in a different housing, but it completely
changes its characteristics, requiring full remapping of one of the
chips in the ECU (BTDT). This is _not_ just an addition/subtraction or %
difference problem, it's a mess, and significant effort to get working
properly. If possible, stick with vendors who package such things with
their products.

Just wondering- those of you w/ experience in these things (Rod, Hap,
Frank, Mike P., John P., etc. etc. etc.), is the problem w/ the MAF hot
wire tearing due to flow through a constricted space? This solution
appears to fix that, although it's not for I-5s, I don't see why you
couldn't adapt it, although you'd need to modify the software
accordingly. Note to bandwidth-restricted- this is pic-heavy:

Swaintech headers are pretty....
Too bad we can't just drop $13k and get those numbers.... or can we?
