Although the Audi/Bose system uses a common ground for speakers, if the
install is like the '91 200q, you'll find that all speakers have 2
conductors leading to them from the wiring harness behind the radio--just
peel back the wrappings a few inches, and you'll find where the speaker
grounds were swedged together, along with a short jumper to the COM
terminal on the wiring harness (the connector pin just to the right of the
RF speaker +.
Although these speaker wires are used in the Bose system for a line-level
signal, I have successfully converted them to high-level output lines for a
basic conversion--just break the common ground and properly wire into the
new head unit's harness. In my case, it is an Alpine 7284 head unit
feeding Pyle 6x9 rear & 4" front. I even reused the stock connector at the
speaker end, simply ignoring the power & ground leads used by the original
speaker amps.
