Guys I had the same problem, although mine would also sporadically open on
it's own, for me at least it was not the motor, it was the rotary switch.
Yes, you can fix the rotary switch yourself. Pull the sunroof switch panel
forward from the windshield towards you, it will unclip and fall about 6 to
8 inches dangling from the wires. Now unclip the rotary switch from the
panel. Once you have the switch out you need to be extra careful seperating
the rotary switch the small side clips break very easy (BTDT). Once the
switch is open you want to clean the contacts and the metal prongs. I wanted
extra insurance so I resoldered my switch wires as they looked a little
dogey in my case. Then just reassemble as it was, shouldn't take you more
than ½ hour. Mine has been working perfect ever since. (I'm going by memory
on this, but I think that's about all there is to the procedure)
Hope this helps.
Cheers, /James.

Mine does that sometimes, too. I believe the motor electronics
sense an
obstruction, real or "imagined," and reverse the closing action. I
can
reliably close mine by "helping" close it that last 1/3 or so of the
way. The
windows will also reverse closing if they sense too much resistance.
