Matt-- In your case this last noise is probably a dead turbo-bypass-valve.
Clank while shift maybe tranny mounts or muffler banging on something?
metallic whines while driving? I dont think Id drive it until I figured
out what that is! could be tranny? cv joints? wheel bearings?
