[s-cars] Boost problem solved, same problem as last time - - - HELP!

Bruce,
Another couple of things to check are
1) The alignment of the pulleys when all bolted up....make sure they are
100% Square and that you didn't get a poorly machined block. I know on some
older domestic V-8's fanatics will actully get the cam re-aligned with the
crank to ensure no bind on the timing chain or gear drive.
2) Is the tension on the pulley being set to tight? Is it very noisy right
after it's changed? One would think this would break the belt first but
I've seen stranger things happen.

Hi Bruce;
If this is the second time you've sheared the key on the crank pulley (I
assume that is what you are describing), something is wrong. This is a very
rare occurrence on these engines and track usage will not increase the
likelihood of it happening. The usual cause is improper installation of the
pulley. My guess is that your mechanic:
1. didn't torque the bolt enough and/or
2. didn't use locking compound on the bolt face and pulley face.
This time tell him to use a new bolt as well.

HELP!
OK, so my mechanic knew where to look for the problem, since it happened
before (although more severely last time). The front cog pulley that drives
the timing belt on the crank is broken yet again. F*ck!
I guess with the track time I'm pulling, it's putting a lot of extra stress
on this area.
So does anyone know where I can get a heavier duty timing belt drive pulley
on the crank? Or has anyone drilled through the gear and crank and inserted
pin(s) to strengthen it? Has anyone else even had this problem??
Thanks all, as usual.
