[s-cars] BPV's

Chris,
One thing to check:
I recently discovered the person that owned my car before me had the bypass
valve in backwards. No real bad symptoms just a sound like a dying goose
when coming off the gas. I discovered this when I looked at my '91 200 and
the valve was in different from my S4. Since the S4 made noise and the '91
didn't I figured the '91 was correct. I changed the BPV orientation to
mimic the '91 and the goose must finally be dead because I don't hear him
anymore :)

As a new UrS6 owner I'm wondering how does one know that a BPV needs to be
replaced? Does it need to be replaced if you chip the car? What sorts of
sounds does a bad BPV make? I have a TAP 2 setup in my 95 S6 and it
occasionally makes a noise when coming off the gas and shifting up
(especially in 2 and 3rd). Also, is there any sort of market for this TAP
setup? I'd prefer to get into the MTM with 3 bar sensor chip and do away
with the TAP wastegate spring.
Chris
