Rod,
This sounds more likely to be a fuel issue than an ignition
issue. Higher voltages are needed to fire the plugs at higher
cylinder pressures, so since your car runs so well on boost
your ignition is probably in good shape.
If there is an intermittent problem in the POS or the rest of
the ignition, I can't think of any way that it would actually
improve at higher boost levels.
