Mani-- Im sorry I didnt get a close look at this problem when I was
looking at your car this past weekend..

I can take pictures of the upper mounts in my car if it will help you.
There is NO gap, or space, or anything else there.

It sure sounds like something is put together wrong, or you have the
wrong springs? Or something is put together upside down, although..
Having done the job a couple times, I can't imagine what they could have
put together wrong..
