My 93 does it too, but no noise. More of a "sidestepping" sort of deal.
Always has done it. Never worried about it. Chalked it up as a quirk.

I've always wanted to post this:
ME TOO!
I presumed it was deteriorating Anti Roll Bar bushes (the last Audi service
said they were worn, but not an MOT failure). I'm going to replace them in
the summer. I've also heard on this list and the mother quattro list a
couple of reports about people with steering racks with loose mounting
bolts.
