Actually your tach may be off if you think you are at 7200 rpm at 96 mph.
You should be taching about 6600 rpm at 96.

Good point Calvin, that would be consistent with my trials.  I've been
consistently seeing ~ 101-103 in 3rd when I hit the limiter @ ~ 7,200...
