Thanks to all who responded WRT new car search for my mistress (aka
wife, aka better half.) While she really needed a new car, after rs2ing
myself around for the past 10 months, I kinda had a hard time working up
any enthsiasm for anything short of Cayenne (which is big $$ and not
even available. Let the flames begin.)
A6 - dont really care too much for body style. A4- maybe too small and
possible mechanical probs.
So I happened to find a flawless, 2000 A8, 72k, black/black, alcantara
door panels and all the other toys (nav. + xenons too) for $26k. IME
this was quite a deal considering what they cost new and what else $26k
would buy new today. This thing, while certainly not tossable, is a
fabulous cruiser IME. And feels smaller than it looks when driving.
Miles were high for the 3 year life of this car, but only meant a much
lower price to me. I'll get one of them unmentionable extendo things I
think:)
Anyway, now I just have to figure a way to park it under the tree. Hope
she likes it as I'm a little nervous that she may think it presumptuous
of me, since she didnt even get to color choose. But geeash, whats not
to like about this beauty?
BTW they had a perfect 72 beetle w/3900 miles there in bronze that had
some kinda electric roll top that went all the way back kinda targa
style for $13k. Would be a great car for some collection. Myself I'm
already overserved (again!)
cheers'
