[s-cars] Depressing Clutch Feel

Hi Rob;

The stiff clutch on the UrS cars is usually caused by clutch dust build-up
on the transmission input shaft. You have to pull the tranny to fix it, at
which point you want to replace the clutch, tranny input shaft seal,
throw-out bearing, and engine rear main seal.

Your problem may also be caused by the clutch pedal linkage to the clutch
master cylinder. A few listers have reported they have broken the rod
connecting the pedal to the master cylinder, whether from an overly stiff
clutch or a linkage problem. You might take a look at your linkage for
binding. I think there's an over-center spring in there, so be careful if
you are inclined to take it apart. I've never have one apart myself, so I've
no BTDT for you.

Sure could use some BTDT:

My '92 has about 115K and it has been running flawless. The clutch
pressure has been heavy since I bought it about 2 years ago.

Yesterday, I depressed the clutch to shift and the peddle didn't want to
go down passed about the 1/2 point. I released the peddle, tried again,
and it was fine. I thought it must be me. All other shifts were fine for
the rest of the day. But, today it happened again, only once.

Crawled around underneath and found a worn-out right-side rubber
transmission mount, but I doubt that has anything to do with my
symptoms.

Appreciating any words of wisdom,
