Wow, thanks for the idea Paul!#!
Finally a great use for those slam'n purple neon under body lights! They
can be justified as a necessary ballast control for the high beam relays.
Cool, it'll be just like Star Trek when they take the Enterprise on up to
Warp 7 speed. Throttle to the metal, High beams On Scotty, followed by a
eminently satisfactory accompanying purple blue glow on the ground under the
engine bay of the car as one dissssssappppears into the night.
Wow. I can see Pizzo vanishing of into the darkness now with a "Hi Hi Yo,
Yippee ti yah" floating in the twilight behind him. GP anyone?
On Dancer, on Prancer, on Donner, on Blitzen.... etc.

~ The fix I used
~was to install a under hood light. The light is tapped onto the high
~beam power so it is only on when the high beams are on. Once you turn
~the high beams off (and they stay on) this new under hood light draws
~enough power to turn off the high beams and the new light at the same
~time. I actually used a $2.00 license plate light that had a little
~shield on it. You don't even notice the new small light under the hood
~as it is only on while the high beams are on.
~
~It was a quick and cheap fix so I could get the car back on the road and
~use my high beams, but if you post a part number for a new relay that
~will accomplish the same thing, that would be great.
